What Is a Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Home Program allows us to continue improving and preserving the MadCity Frenchies breeding program while making sure our dogs get what they deserve most, a loving family and a home of their own.

Instead of keeping every potential breeding dog in our home, we carefully select local families to become Guardian Homes. A Guardian family receives a high-quality MadCity Frenchies puppy or young adult for little to no cost. The dog lives with you as your family member while remaining part of our breeding program for a limited period of time.

How Does It Work?

Your Guardian dog lives with you full-time and is your companion in every way. You provide the everyday love, care, training, exercise, and veterinary care that comes with having a dog.

MadCity Frenchies retains breeding rights during the dog’s breeding career and is responsible for breeding related decisions and expenses.

For our females, this means she will return to us when it is time to be bred and again when she is ready to deliver and raise her puppies. She stays with us through the appropriate portion of her pregnancy, delivery, and the time needed to care for her litter before returning home to her Guardian family.

Once her breeding career is complete, she is spayed and ownership is fully transferred to her Guardian family. She then gets to spend the rest of her life right where she belongs, with the family she already knows and loves.

Why Do We Use Guardian Homes?

We believe dogs thrive when they are part of a family.

A Guardian Home allows us to maintain a small, carefully planned breeding program without having a large number of dogs living together solely for breeding purposes. Each dog receives individual attention, experiences everyday family life, and gets to build a lifelong bond with their own family.

It also allows us to continue working with exceptional dogs that meet our standards for health, structure, and temperament while keeping the well-being of each individual dog at the center of our program.

What We Look for in a Guardian Family

Guardian families become an important part of the MadCity Frenchies family, so choosing the right homes is very important to us.

Our Guardian Homes must:

● Live within approximately one hour of Madison, Wisconsin

● Provide a safe, stable, loving home

● Keep the dog as an indoor family companion

● Provide appropriate veterinary care, nutrition, exercise, training, and socialization

● Maintain regular communication with us

● Be willing and able to bring the dog to us when needed for health testing, breeding, pregnancy, or delivery

● Follow the requirements of our Guardian Home agreement

● Understand that females must remain intact during their breeding career

Because timing is extremely important in a breeding program, Guardian families also need to be dependable and willing to communicate with us promptly when a female begins her heat cycle.

What Does It Cost?

One of the benefits of becoming a Guardian Home is the opportunity to welcome an exceptional MadCity Frenchies dog into your family for little to no initial cost.

Specific arrangements can vary depending on the individual dog, and all responsibilities and expectations are discussed before placement so everyone understands exactly how the program works.

Is a Guardian Home Right for You?

Being a Guardian Home is a little different from traditional pet ownership. There are temporary separations during breeding and whelping, and good communication and flexibility are essential.

In return, you get the opportunity to raise and love a wonderful French Bulldog while playing an important role in the future of MadCity Frenchies.

For the right family, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience.
